Stress, one of the worst enemies of health, can lead to heart
problems, risk of heart attack, weight gain, depression and a weakened immune
system. Back home, it is necessary to take a break. Here are some simple tips
to help you relax.
Children,
housework, cooking.... When you arrive home, a host of tasks await you.
Unintentionally, you find yourself in a sort of extension of the working day.
Knowing how to de-stress is crucial for your health and well-being.
Practice abdominal breathing
By releasing
tension, abdominal breathing leads to relaxation and helps to have a more
developed body awareness. It allows you to exhale all the air in your lungs and
expel all the toxins. In the office or at home, take the time to practice
abdominal breathing several times a day. To do this, close your mouth and
breathe in through your nose by inflating your belly, keep the air inside you
for a few seconds, then breathe out through your mouth by pulling in your belly
and finally, with your mouth closed, keep your lungs empty for a while. The
urge to breathe in will return naturally.
Take off your shoes
When you get
home, there is nothing more pleasant than taking off your shoes to relax and
unwind. Walking barefoot stimulates a number of vital functions: it activates
the blood circulation, improves the condition of the veins, strengthens the
nervous system and reduces stress. Especially if you walk on sand. Walking is a
relaxing activity that you can do as soon as you get home.
Establish separations
When you get
home, consider that your professional responsibility ends there. As far as
possible, differentiate between these two spaces, personal life and
professional activity. When you return home, be aware that this is your free
time and your private life, the one you share with your family, which is the
most important. Savour all these moments
and keep home and work separate.
Take a short walk
A walk of about
10 minutes, no more. For example, go for a walk near your home to relax, to get
some exercise and allow the brain to release endorphins and the body to
eliminate toxins. It doesn't cost anything and it's a great way to de-stress,
and if you have a wife or husband or a friend along, it's even better.
Take a nap
There is no
need to fall into a deep sleep; lie down for a while on the armchair or sofa
with your legs raised and close your eyes for a few minutes, slowing down your
breathing. This is to recover energy and feel better and less tense. This is
enough to de-stress and feel more relaxed.
A relaxing bath
To relax,
nothing is better than a good bath. Take a warm bath. Allow the body to relax
and feel relieved. This also allows the nervous system to relax, pain and
tension to ease, and the body to eliminate toxins.
Do not do two things at once
Coming home,
starting to cook while looking after the children, doing the ironing, checking
your diary for the next day. How many things can you do at once when you are
back home? Keeping in mind these necessities will help you to organise yourself
better and to preserve your peace of mind by avoiding new stressful situations.
Rest your body
Relax for ten
minutes and think about personal things, take time for yourself, think about
your present life and what you would like in the future. Appreciate everything
you have and all the good things you have. Stress sometimes makes you lose
sight of the things that are really important, to the point of not knowing what
your priorities are. Relax, smile, picture pleasant things in your mind.
