According to « The
Journal of Positive Psychology », people suffering from anxiety or
depressive symptoms can improve their condition by doing good deeds. Social
connection is one of the ingredients of well-being. According to researchers at
Ohio State University, acts of kindness have consistently shown more benefit in
making people feel more connected to others, which is an important component of
well-being. Just being around others is not enough. The 'altruistic' component
is paramount.
