Breast cysts are usually not dangerous when detected and treated in time. They result from benign deformities in the mammary glands. But according to Mathieu Tobossi, Specialist in Diet Therapy and Specialist in Food Hygiene and Quality, they can be prevented with a good diet.

Breast cysts are caused by an accumulation of fluid in nodules. They occur either as a result of hormonal changes in a woman's body, poor lifestyle and diet, or a weight-related problem.

If the nodules are treated in time, the risk of them growing and developing into breast cancer is avoided. Every woman should recognise the presence of nodules by palpating her breasts. This method allows the detection of abnormalities and the early diagnosis of a breast cyst.

A normal breast is smooth to the touch. If, on the other hand, it is painful and has lumps of varying sizes or fluid coming out of the nipple, it may be an alteration in the glands that has given rise to breast tumours or cysts. To confirm the diagnosis, it is always essential to consult a specialist. Only he or she can advise on the best alternatives in each case.

What diet should be adopted?

The possibility of breast cysts forming is especially high in women aged between 30 and 60. However, it can be avoided by a healthy lifestyle and, above all, by a healthy and balanced diet. « The ideal would be to consume daily organic products rich in nutrients that promote good blood circulation in the breast cells and maintain normal hormone levels », says Mathieu Tobossi, a specialist in diet therapy and a specialist in food hygiene and quality.

Good fats

Fatty acids are essential for the health of the body. However, they can be found in natural, organically grown or farmed products that are not treated with chemicals. « Favour foods containing omega-3 and omega-6 such as wild salmon or poultry, borage oil and primrose oil to reduce the risk of breast cyst formation », recommends Mathieu Tobossi, a specialist in dietary therapy.

Also, « reduce consumption of saturated fats and carbohydrates. Grilled red meat, cold cuts, cured meats, bread, rice and pasta should be reduced, as they are an abundant source of saturated or trans fats and carbohydrates », says Mathieu Tobossi.

Fibre and vitamins

The specialist in Food Hygiene and Quality shows that "fibre, vitamins A and E, which are also powerful antioxidants, help reduce the risk of breast cysts. Green tea, raw fruit and vegetables, almonds, olive oil, sesame seeds, whole grains should be included in your diet.

A good diet is the secret to avoiding serious diseases. But these precautions should be complemented by daily physical exercise and self-checking by palpation.
